Second Life (abbreviated SL) is an online virtual world provided by Linden Lab which came to international attention in late 2006 and early 2007. Through a client program, users interact with each other through avatars, providing an advanced social network service.

While SL is sometimes referred to as a game, it, in general, does not have points, scores, winners or losers, levels, an end-strategy, or most of the other characteristics of games. Users, who are often called "Residents" amongst themselves, can visit this virtual world almost as if it were a real place. They explore, meet new people, participate in individual and group activities, and buy items ( virtual property) and services from one another. If they decide to visit often, they learn new skills and mature socially (in the sense of learning the culture of the virtual world).

SL's virtual currency is known as the Linden Dollar and is exchangeable for US$ in a marketplace composed of users and Linden Lab. The flat earth-like environment is simulated on a large array of servers, and is referred to as The Gird. As of December 2006, usually ten to twenty thousand users are in the grid during peak hours.

To me it could be the big hit 2007 because it's really a new way of conceiving both real and virtual lives.

Youtube is one of the most famous websites in the world. It's easy to understand since that YouTube offers so many possibilities especially regarding the creativity we may have.
Indeed, we can create our own personal page. It means for example that we can make for instance a professional page with several videos and online contents to offer the employer a different vision of ourselves. Because sometimes a job interview is not enough for the employer to make a correct idea of the person who is applying for the job.
Moreover, we can create a more personal page with for example videos of our vacations.
In the future we can thing many other ways to use these tools with for instance the possibility to find for every single company videos of the location, of the people working in the company, to see the general mood.

Nowadays, we put our all life on our computer or laptop. The main risk is that when it is stolen or if there is a malfunction you can loose everything ! So you must be careful. I personnaly record all my datas on two others computer and I also record everything on dvds. Cyberstalkers target victims using online forums, bulletin boards, chat rooms, spyware, and spam. They may engage in live chat harassment or flaming or they may send electronic viruses and unsolicited e-mails. They may repeatedly instant message their targets. More commonly they will post defamatory or derrogatory statements about their stalking target on web pages, message boards and in guest books designed to trigger a reaction or response from their victim, thereby initiating contact.

When prosecuted, many stalkers have unsuccessfully attempted to justify their behavior based on their use of public forums, as opposed to direct contact. Once they get a reaction from the victim, they will typically attempt to track or follow the victim's internet activity. Classic cyberstalking behavior includes the tracing of the victim's IP address in an attempt to verify their home or place of employment.

Stalking does not consist of single incidents, but is a continuous process. Similar to stalking off-line (physical stalking), cyberstalking can be a terrifying experience for victims, placing them at risk of psychological trauma, and possible physical harm. As Rokkers writes, "Stalking is a form of mental assault, in which the perpetrator repeatedly, unwantedly, and disruptively breaks into the life-world of the victim, with whom he has no relationship (or no longer has)....Moreover, the separated acts that make up the intrusion cannot by themselves cause the mental abuse, but do taken together (cumulative effect)."

Some cyberstalking situations do evolve into physical stalking, and a victim may experience abusive and excessive phone calls, vandalism, threatening or obscene mail, trespassing, and physical assault. Moreover, many physical stalkers will use cyberstalking as another method of harassing their victims.

Cybercrime on the Internet has become something quite spread nowadays, it is the use of computers and the internet by criminals to perpetrate fraud and other crimes against companies and consumers. To avoid harm from these activities, all users should check that web sites they use or people to whom they email sensitive information are genuine.
To me the perfect example of cybercrrme is the creation of virus such as the well known "I LOVE YOU" virus.
What is really incredible is the fact that the school dropout from the Philippines who wrote the I LOVE YOU virus was not prosecuted by the Philippine Government because at that time, the country did not have laws relating to virus creators. Ironically, the then President Estrada stated that perhaps the Philippines should leverage on the fact that they have such good virus writers to attract global technology companies to base themselves in the Philippines, considering the capable talent available in the country.
Therfore, now, the need is to create international laws against cybercriminals regardless of each specific government.

To me the main issue of the English Class is that the levels are not the same among all the students. It means that when we are asked to make a blog in English, to answer specific questions in perfect English, many students won't be able to produce a satifying work. First, because they don't speak English or write English well. Then because they need much more time than a fluent student to produce equal work.

Besides, how can those students improve their English if they don't even know their mistakes. Maybe we could think about a tutorat to make the better students help the other ones.

This way they could fastly improve their oral notions and their writing.

Nowadays, you can use RSS in many ways. For example, fora website like dailymotion, you can decide that every single video posted by users will be transformed into a single format. This way everybody can broadcast any kind of video without thinking of a way to change the format which is most of the time very complicated.

Youtube is the revolution of the year. Why ? Just because Google bought it 1.6 billion dollars.

At the very beginning, it is the story of two employees fired by Paypal. After a party, they decided to create a website where you can share videos. In just 8 months, youtube became a true phenomenous given that there was among 20 and 70 millions users a month.

I personnaly don't use very often youtube because I don't find the concept fascinating. It's nice but not great.

It is not really a problem when we talk about a classical website, but when it is a website that requires credit card informations and enables an access to your bank account, it could be dangerous. For example, ebay or paypal are one of these sites.

There is not really a way to protect yourself, you just have to be the most precautionous that you possibly can.

The Internet offers many ways to learn English. Throughout videos, writings, on line corrections, etc.

Yet, my favorite example is the BBC website to learn English. What is interesting is that you can learn English by watching the news for example. The idea is that you not only learn the accent, the vocabulary, but also you are motivated by the fact that you are watching to something that actually intersests you, something that you could have watched on your own TV.

Now, what is sure is that it is faster to learn something when you get interested.

DRM for Digital Rights Management is a technology that enables to secure the content of the audio and video files broadcast on the Internet. Not only it protects the royalties but it also limit the copies.

On the web it means that you no longer can upload any audio or video file that an Internet user put on the Internet and you no longer can broadcast a protected file.

The main issue is that it makes it very complicated for the legitimate purchasers to upload, for instance, a cd on their ipod because the cd is now protected against any kind of uploading. Web Neutrality is the hot topic of the year.
The reason is that it raises an important question :
Should cable and telephone companies be allowed to charge the users of their networks ?
To be more specific, it would mean that the access to a network would no longer be free. A commercial war would begin jeoparding the fondamental advantage of the internet : the ability for everybody - regardless of their social background or their income - to reach culture on the internet.
Besides, it would mean that the bigger networks, such as Google, Yahoo, Amazon, will have the financial power to make disappear all the little ones, destroying this way what makes Internet so rich : diversity.
